The devastating case of 15 month old, Evelyn Mae Boswell, starts in Sullivan County, TN.

  • Sullivan County, TN has a population of roughly 160,000 people

  • It’s a county in East TN near Johnson City and famous for Bristol, TN if you’re a NASCAR fan then you’re aware of Bristol Motor Speedway and people’s obsession with Bristol weekend

Evelyn Boswell was the baby of two young parents, Megan Boswell and Ethan Perry. Megan did have full custody of her, and she was 18 at the time, but I haven’t been able to find how old Ethan is. I’m assuming he is probably a young parent as well. He was stationed in Louisiana at the time of her disappearance, thank you for your service, so I feel pretty confident he wasn’t involved in any of this. February 19, 2020, an Amber Alert is issued for 15 month old Evelyn Mae Boswell after she was reported missing the day prior.

  • She was last seen in December of 2019. 

  • Throughout the case, Megan has a history of consistently lying to authorities. Her first story is that they need to be searching for a gray BMW. Her mom and her boyfriend stole a car. Arrested. End of story. 

  • Police continue to deal with a lot of inconsistent stories from Megan. According to police, the most accurate dates they can settle on for her being seen last was December 10 or 11th.

  • I think that the police were already suspicious of her when all of this happened, but as time went on it continued to get worse.

  • Appears on the news. Announces pregnancy...

  • Next, she ends up making up another story about how the TBI aren’t taking her seriously because she told them that she knows Evelyn is in Mendota, VA .. here is what she said:


"I told TBI where to find her in Mendota. My mom took her to a campground in a silver camper and if they don’t go tonight, I’m going to go find her myself, because I’ve told them and they’re not really like taking it seriously and if they don’t go tonight, I will go myself and go get her…They’re not taking me seriously, TBI isn’t, because I’ve not fully told them I’ve been like ‘hey, like my mom camped out in Mendota, you know, to go check them out,’ but I’ve never been like, ‘hey,’ specifically, ‘hey, she’s like in a silver camper,’ because my mom did threaten me like you know if I told anybody – I’m not gonna get into that – but she did,”

But then she goes off on some rant about how Gypsies aren’t a cult? And her family isn’t a cult out there just kidnapping babies, and her dad is really proud that they’re gypsies?

Next, she tells them she’s pregnant so she can’t participate in a polygraph test. Which is shockingly true. Technically she could do it up until the 3rd trimester, but most won’t perform it because if there were to be any issues with the baby it could come back on them as a lawsuit so.. No polygraph for her. 

February 25th, it was announced that Megan is being arrested for false reporting. Hallelujah. 

They also do a search in a pond at some family property in North Carolina owned by family of the grandmother’s boyfriend, to which they find nothing even using equipment to help them search.

We don’t really know much about the grandmother, Angela Boswell’s, boyfriend, William McCloud other than he commits crimes with her. But he did report that he had only seen Evelyn twice since beginning to date her grandmother in June of 2019. Whether that is true or not, I don’t know, but he did offer his DNA and to do a polygraph test. His grandmother alleged that on Feb 21, the day they were arrested, he and Angela showed up at her house asking for gas money, and his feet were wet. February 28th, police arrive at the mobile home of a family member of Megan’s. He said that they were seen digging up some soft ground, and they did take something with them. March 6, 2020 Evelyn’s remains are found at a property connected to her father, brother, and grandmother. I think it’s important to note she was still wearing the clothes reported in her AMBER alert as well as her diapers, some clothes, and toys in an outbuilding.

  • Memorial set up by police and community had to be removed due to complaint made by a neighbor


  • March 11th, TBI confirmed that the remains are indeed that of Evelyn Boswell. 

  • Family states that the immediately family of Evelyn Boswell, minus the grandmother, are grieving the loss of the sweet baby. 

  • Again, the grandmother and her boyfriend are arrested for shoplifting from Walmart. 

In late April they were still awaiting the autopsy and toxicology reports, but the judge decided to keep those records sealed as she is a baby, and they wanted to keep the integrity of the investigation. Everything needs to be done right, so kudos to you Sullivan County.


So where are we now?

  • In May they said they had a person of interest in the case, but never said if that was Megan or not. 

  • At this point, she has still NOT been charged with the murder of Evelyn. I’m assuming because they don’t have official autopsy reports saying the cause of death is homicide? I’m unsure about that. But she has been charged with the 11 counts of false reporting and then her grandmother’s boyfriend was arrested on charges of child abuse and neglect. Apparently he assaulted his ex who is the mother of his 8 year old child, and the child tried to stop him from beating her, and he was apparently on meth. I don’t know if this has anything to do with Evelyn.

  • Her next court date is scheduled for July 31st, and she is still pregnant and in jail with a $150k bond

  • There’s a law called “Evelyn Boswell’s Law” trying to be passed which would require parents to report their child missing within 48 hours or else they face C Felony charges for reckless disregard in resulting in serious bodily harm or death and this is punishable by up to 3-15 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $10,000
