This is the story of the gruesome, 1981 quadruple homicide of Sue Sharp, her two children John and Tina Sharp, and John’s friend, Dana Wingate in Keddie Cabin 28.
Part 1:
Keddie is a very small town in Plumas County, California. This is in Northern California in the Sierra Nevada.
The last census in 2010 said that there was a population of only 66 people.
Glenna “Sue” Sharp, who goes by Sue, was the mother of Johnny, age 15, Sheila, age 14, Tina, age 12, Rick, age 10, and Greg, age 5.
Sue was married to James Sharp until 1979 when he kicked her and their five children out of their Connecticut home. James was allegedly abusive, and he only visited them once more after they moved out to Quincy, California to rent a trailer her brother Don had previously lived in.
Times were tough for Sue and her children, but she did what could to make ends meet. She received $250 each month from the Navy because of her husband being active military, government support, and she joined a program called CETA, which is the California Education Training Act that allowed her a stipend for learning a trade to go out into the world and use. Through this, she was enrolled at the Feather River Community College. These sources of income allowed her to move out of the mobile home in November of 1980 and rent Cabin 28 at the Keddie Resort. However, the eldest daughter, Sheila, did not live in Keddie until February of 1981. She actually became pregnant and lived with her aunt in Oregon. Once she gave birth, she gave the baby up for adoption and moved back home.
The two bedroom, one bathroom cabin was still pretty small for a family of 6, but it was an upgrade for them from the cramped mobile home they previously lived in, and it had a basement which gave her eldest son, John, some privacy and independence. But there was no formal stairwell to the upstairs, so he had to go outside of the cabin to get upstairs to the rest of the cabin. To do this, they typically left the doors unlocked so Johnny was able to get inside the cabin if need be. The two younger boys, Rick and Greg, shared a bedroom that was next to the living room, and Sheila, Tina, and their mom, Sue, shared the other bedroom that had a queen and twin bed in it. It’s said that sometimes Sue would sleep in the living room on the pullout sofa.
Sue has been described as someone that’s simple and kept to herself. Her neighbors directly across the street in Cabin 26, Marilyn and Marty Smartt, were also in her class at Feather River Community College. These are people we will continue to circle around to. It is also said she had one close friend that was in that class as well. Her name is Nina Meeks, and she is also the mother of the boy who got Sheila pregnant.
Given there’s only 66 people in this small community, the picking for romantic partners is definitely slim. From what I’ve read, the romantic partners she did have were also volatile like her ex-husband, James, and she wasn’t shy to tell someone to screw off. Her last known romantic partner had “last seen” her two days prior to her death and then went to spend time with his family in Paradise, California.
Given that she wasn’t shy to turn people down, it was speculated early on that there was a possibility of this being a crime of passion committed by one of these men, but that wasn’t true... well, kind of.
April 11, 1981 Timeline
The day started out as a normal day, as most do before something tragic.
Sue, Sheila, Ricky, Greg, and Justin Smartt (the son of Marilyn, and step-son of Marty) drive into the town of Quincy where they drop off Ricky and Justin at their ball practice.
Sue will go to her “best friend” Nina Meeks’s house, and Sheila goes to one of her friend’s houses.
I’m assuming the Smartt’s pick up Ricky and Justin because the only people to arrive home around noon are Sue, Sheila, Greg, Johnny, and Dana. Tina had stayed home for their outing and was there when they arrived home. Sue had picked up Johnny and Dana when hitchhiking which, if you think about the fact that it is 1981, kids out walking around isn’t an uncommon thing. Times were not as scary then.. Which is ironic to say given I’m talking about a quadruple homicide.
Later in the afternoon, Dana and Johnny go back to hitchhiking back into town to go visit some friends and then go to Dana’s foster home. They were supposedly going to get a ride back into town from a woman named Kathy Beckley. But it turns out someone else had to bring them back to Keddie after Kathy had decided not to. She was allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with Dana Wingate, and she was afraid for people to find out as she was older than him, and he was a minor. There were a lot of questions around Dana and Johnny’s timeline and day, a lot of conflicting reports as to who actually gave them a ride back into town, and why they were seen at both a Chevron and Exxon gas station trying to hitchhike, but it turns out that Kathy lived close by to one of the gas stations, and while they were trying to hitch a ride back into town from these gas stations, they’d travel back to Kathy’s apartment to supposedly try and convince her to just take them back into Keddie as she had previously stated she would do.
At some point, Ricky and Justin arrive back to Keddie resort and spend the afternoon outside playing with neighbor kids and riding bikes until around 6:00pm when it was time to come inside for the evening. Ricky had asked Justin to spend the night, and he allegedly never asked his parents for permission and just stayed the night. It’s important to remember that his parents did not know he was spending the night at the Sharp’s house.
Tina and Sheila spent the day at the Seabolt residence which is Cabin 27 right next door to the Sharps. From what I can tell, Tina is usually the child to spend time at this cabin with their daughter. I find it kind of odd that this particular night Sheila was the one to spend the night, and Tina was not given permission to do so. Tina did come home around 7:30pm to wash dishes then returned to the Seabolt’s. Sheila came home around this time as well to get her clothes to spend the night at which time Sue told her that Johnny and Dana had gone back into town.
10 year old Ricky has also given three different reports about a phone call his mother received, and it’s all around 9:00pm. He says Johnny and Dana called to tell her they’d be home soon, but from their timeline of the night- there were already trying to hitchhike back into Keddie before that and were seen outside of an Exxon and Chevron gas station. Then he said Nina Meeks called and said Johnny/Dana would be home soon, but the Meeks’s have not been reported to have any contact with the two boys that day, so that doesn’t make any sense, and THEN he also said she received a call that she responded with, “who is this?” so.. It's untelling what phone call she actually did receive that night, but I think it might be important.
Tina Sharp arrives home around 10pm according to the Seabolts, and here is where everything begins to get.... hinky.
Justin claims that the youngest, Greg, went to bed earlier like around 8:30pm, and himself, Ricky, and Tina all went to bed around 10pm after watching Love Boat, while Sue stayed on the couch and that the boys, including himself, never woke up again.... but isn’t it funny that the only account we have of what time Johnny and Dana came home is from Justin? And he said they didn’t come home until midnight? But how would he know if he went to sleep at 10pm after watching Love Boat, and they never woke up again?
For a moment, let’s go back to Marilyn and Marty Smartt. I’ve already told you that they live across the street in Cabin 26, their son, Justin, is friends with Ricky, and supposedly, Marilyn is friends with Sue..... big emphasis on supposedly. Now let's talk about our other friend, Bo Boubede. He is a friend of Marty’s and has shown up in Keddie 10 days earlier and staying with the Smartts. Marty allegedly met Bo in Reno, Nevada at a VA mental Institution. Bo is known best for his interactions with the mafia in Chicago. When his dad died, he was taken under the wing of Jimmy Rini, and I think I read he was a hitman, but he also buried a lot of people for the mafia. Clearly, not a good guy. So back to our story.
Somewhere around this time, Marilyn claims 7:00-7:30pm, Marilyn, Marty, and Bo all say they were headed to the Back Door Bar. The three of them tell conflicting stories about this trip to the bar. The one thing they agree on is that they decided to invite Sue as a date for Bo, but Marilyn told them she probably wouldn’t want to go. Marilyn’s “story” is that sometimes she went to Sue’s door alone to ask her to come leaving Marty and Bo outside, sometimes Marty went with her, I think even somewhere it mentioned she said she called to ask? But, regardless, she’s been consistently inconsistent. When Marilyn stated she went to her door to ask her, she doesn’t say Sue came and opened the door. She states Sue was on her couch working on “something” and said no, and she left. So did Marilyn open the door? Did the ghost of Christmas past open the door? We don’t know. Why? Because she’s a liar.
Marty and Bo, both, were wearing three piece suits to this bar. Weird, right? Later that night, they “walked Marilyn home” and then changed clothes to go back to the bar? Do you find that as weird as I do? Marilyn claims they got home around 1:30am because there was a war movie on, and she went to bed and knows nothing further past that point other than Marty and Bo go back to the bar.
At roughly 1:15am, muffled screams are heard coming from Cabin 28 heard from Cabin 16.. This is assumed to be Tina.
April 12, 1981 Timeline
Around 7:30 on the morning of April 12th, Sheila decided to go to church with the Seabolts. She went home to change clothes, and this is when she opened the door only to discover the bodies of three people in her living room...
Supposedly Sheila didn’t look to see who the bodies were. She immediately ran back to the Seabolts to tell them there were three dead bodies in her house. At that point, Jamie Sealbolt Jr (the son), his mom, and Sheila went back to cabin 28.
Sheila claims they looked into the boy’s window and saw them all cowered in there, but there’s conflicting information about that as well. Apparently, the window is 20 feet off the ground and there’s no way to actually peer inside the window. There was also reports that all the boys were hiding in the closet, but that Sheila and Jamie knocked on the window. I don’t really know, but another account says that Jamie Seabolt Jr went inside the house and lowered the boys out the window, which would make more sense, but he also claims he went inside because the back door was ajar, and he saw the bodies and left.. But in order to get to the boy’s room, he has to pass over the bodies as their room is adjacent to the living room where the bodies were left. So, the reality of how the boys got out is unknown, in my opinion.
Somewhere around 8:30am Officers Shaver and Klement arrive on scene. Klement had already done a preliminary search of the cabin. At this point, Shaver and Klement go into the cabin, and Shaver requests the dispatch of the Sheriff. Klement watches the cabin while Shaver starts the interviewing process. Don Stoy, one of the not so great detectives, is said to have been dispatched to the murder scene at this time.
Sue’s brother, also named Don (but Don Davis) arrives on scene around 0845. He stated he’d been notified by a family member that I’m assuming was Sheila. Some people speculate that it’s weird he arrives before the Sheriff, but if something happened to one of my family members, after calling police, I’d call my closest relatives.
Assistant Sheriff Shanks arrives on scene with Stoy. They get briefed and enter the cabin to start photographing and collecting evidence. They dispatched a Mortuary and a Detective Forcino who took possession of the three bodies per the Sheriff Doug Thomas. At this point, they claim to have known that 12 year old Tina was missing, but from what I’ve read.. This is not true. They didn’t know she was missing for a hot minute. There’s also a LOT of speculation/evidence that this was in fact a cover up by the police back in the 80’s. It wasn’t until Mark Gamberg took over and started uncovering everything that it was known as well as DMac, but nobody really believed him until Gamberg. Anyways, more on that later.
They also called out Spiro Vasos with the DOJ to assist with fingerprints.
Also.. Marilyn Smartt moves out of Cabin 26 that same day, leaving alllll of her belongings behind... weird, right? I read somewhere her and Marty both (at some point) moved in with Wade and Nina Meeks who Marilyn was also having an affair with.
Bo leaves for Oregon and is dropped off at a bus station by Wade Meeks.
April 15-April 28, 1981
Marty calls a woman named Joan Andrews to tell her that the reason she’d not heard from Marilyn was because their son had stayed with people who’d been beaten to death in a very gory way. But Joan reported she hadn’t been expecting a phone call from Marilyn at all and found the whole situation weird. She thought Marty had been abusive with Marilyn and the kid, and that he also had 6 kids from another marriage all in foster homes. Clearly, Marty sucks. She also said she didn’t know Boubede.
Marilyn gives consent for Cabin 26 to be searched.
Sheila does a walk-through of Cabin 28 with Detective Stoy. She noted their tool box was missing that the bloody hammer used as one of the murder weapons was usually in, Tina’s shoes and nylon jacket were missing, and there was a blue sweater on the back of the toilet that she didn’t recognize, but claimed it could be Dana’s. That became evidence.
Marty Smartt passes a polygraph test which he later claimed is easy to lie and pass.
On April 21st, Marilyn is interviewed by again by DOJ Agents Bradley and Crim, this time she tells them that she believes Marty and Bo are involved in the murders because Marty felt Sue was a whore. That maybe they approached her and then Johnny and Dana walked in on what was happening. She told them Justin informed her that Johnny was tied up with tape, and she has first-aid and masking tape at their home.
April 27th: Marty supposedly calls a friend and threatens to kill Marilyn’s boyfriends if she doesn’t come back to him.
Interestingly enough, the next day (April 28th) Marilyn receives a letter from Marty that states, “I don’t care what has happened,” “I’ve paid the price of your love and now that I’ve bought it with four people’s lives, you tell me we are through. Great! What else do you want?” and goes on to talk about how he’s given up so much for her. Pretty damning, huh? Bought it with four people’s lives? Marilyn will deny years later that she remembers getting that later, but will identify that the handwriting is indeed Marty’s. This letter was found in a box of old evidence by Sheriff Mark Gamberg, and it was H I D D E N.
Justin claims to have seen someone take Tina out the back of the kitchen through a crack in the wall, but Detective Stoy went to see for himself, and he proved this to be false as there’s no way to see into the kitchen from where Justin claimed to be. Which begs the question, WHERE WAS JUSTIN? Was he involved? He’s claimed many times they never woke up, but yet can recall the murders, knows when the boys got home, and that Tina was taken out the back of the cabin? He also claims that he covered up Sue’s body with a blanket. WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
A man finds a blue hooded sweatshirt near Spanish Creek, washed it, found it stained with blood, and called the police.
Here is another very important moment, a psychiatrist named Dr. Cheesman claims his neighbor, who is a psychiatrist at the Reno Vet Center. Cheesman says he received a call from Marty Smartt confessing to the murders, and the other psychiatrist didn’t want him to report this to the police. But we do know that Marty’s psychiatrist went to the police and told them he confessed to killing the women, but not the boys, and the police did NOTHING.
The police also keep hypnotizing people for their stories which I find to be odd.
Part Two
The Murder Victims and What Happened
So I’ve already told you all that basically everything we know about the truth behind Keddie Cabin 28 comes from DMac and Sheriff Mark Gamberg.
However, this is what has widely circulated around as to what happened:
The story goes that Sue had been in an abusive relationship with her ex husband, James, which is true, but that because of that she was counseling Marilyn to leave Marty because he was abusive with her and because Sue had been through it before, she was the one Marilyn was able to turn to. Now this would appear that Marilyn and Sue are friends, correct? Except Marilyn will constantly lie about how she barely knows Sue or sometimes she says they were kind of friends, etc.. So, again, the lying. Anyways, Marilyn told Marty about Sue’s suggesting she leave him, Marty lost his ever-loving mind over Sue meddling in their marriage, and he murdered Sue, Johnny, Dana, and Tina.
Let me ask you this, could Marty have murdered Sue and Tina? Sure. Tina is a 12-year-old girl. She’s not going to be able to fight off a grown man. But how in the world could ONE-man murder Sue, Tina, 17-year-old Dana, and 15-year-old Johnny. Both of whom were known to get into fights frequently which leads me to believe that if Marty were the sole perp, he wouldn’t be able to fight off Johnny and Dana by himself with a hammer and a pellet gun (both of which are known to be murder weapons). They easily could have overtaken him especially when adding Sue into the mix.
So right off the bat I’m not believing that Marty is the sole murderer. There is absolutely no way. Which, Marilyn claims it was Marty and Bo. She’s innocent of all things Cabin 28.
But... from what DMac and Mark Gamberg have uncovered, while some of this is true, there’s a lot more to the story, and Sheriff Hagwood agrees that there’s a lot more people to the story as well. But first, let me set the crime scene for you. I will try to refrain from the super gory details, but I also think it’s important to share just how brutal it was because it will help solidify the cause of the murder.
The Crime Scene
When you walked into Keddie Cabin 28, lying on his back was Johnny Sharp. Next to him was a cheap knife that was bloody and bent. Also next to him.. Dana Wingate. He was lying on his belly with his head on a blood covered couch cushion. And then next to Dana was Sue. Gagged and bound.
So here is what has been uncovered as the LIKELY scenario (plus factual stuff) that happened:
The boys arrive home somewhere between 11:00 and 11:30pm
Sue goes to bed with Tina at some point in the evening in their bedroom
Marty, Marilyn, and Bo do actually go to the Back Door Bar, but when they leave to “go home” they’re actually going to Cabin 28..
The three of them enter Cabin 28 somewhere around 1:00am
Even though were are conflicting stories about lights being on at Cabin 28, it’s said the bathroom light was on between the two bedrooms
This allowed for the killers to be guided back to the bedroom without turning lights on and notifying someone that they were in the house
When they got back to Sue’s bedroom, she was in the bed nearest to the door and Tina was in the back corner of the bedroom
It’s believed that when Sue was attacked, that was when Tina screamed at 1:15 which is what the people in Cabin 16 heard, but when they didn’t hear it again they went back to sleep
At this point, the boys were already home and downstairs in Johnny’s basement/room. It’s said that they had previously been at a party that night where drugs and alcohol were consumed so I don’t know if they were maybe passed out, drinking more, letting it all wear off, or what.. But it makes me wonder if it had anything to do with them being quickly injured because it was at that point they ran outside and into the cabin to see what was going on.
The boys were being attacked as soon as they entered the cabin. It’s unknown if Johnny and Dana were dead at this point, but we know Sue was likely left alive to watch the boys be murdered and most of their injuries were inflicted within minutes.
Remember me mentioning that Ricky, Greg, and Justin were “asleep” in the other bedroom? And that Marilyn and Marty didn’t know Justin had spent the night at the Sharp’s house? This is likely the reason Ricky and Greg survived the night. Because Marilyn and Marty found out Justin was in that room, and they didn’t want to kill their own child.
So, this is where Dana and Johnny are likely dead or on their way to being dead, and Marilyn is left to manage the victims (mostly Sue) and make sure the younger boys don’t do anything. Marty and Bo return to Cabin 26 to change out of their three piece suits, I would assume clean up because it was a very bloody scene, and head back to the bar in order to maintain their alibi.
According to Marty, the bar closed around 1:45 which is when they would have headed back to Cabin 28.
As Marty will later admit, Tina was incapacitated at this point. DMac believes she was taken from the crime scene upon Marty and Bo’s return from the bar as part of their staging process. This was to maybe make it look as if she was the main target.
Marty claimed the swinging bridge was closed this night, but DMac has found that it wasn’t. He believes Tina was carried across the bridge and placed her body in a place near the main road, but where she couldn’t be seen so they could later go back for it and dispose of her body.
Gamberg believes that Tina was driven down Spanish Oak Drive and turned right and out into a large area.
DMac has noted that the Sheriff’s point out that the gate on that bridge is always unlocked and it was on that night in particular.
Remember earlier when it was said that Sue was counseling Marilyn on their marriage and telling her to leave Marty? Well, apparently that was true, BUT... Sue was allegedly having an affair with Marty and Marilyn knew it.. What's that spell? M O T I V E. Motive. So.. I mention that because at the same place Marty has disposed of Tina, he allegedly also disposes of a “sexy” pink pantsuit of Sue’s that had a significant meaning to him.
When they get back from disposing of Tina, Dana has been dead for a while because livor mortis is setting in.
If you don’t know what that is, it’s the pooling of blood from gravity and your body not perfusing anymore. It usually sets in around 30 minutes to 2 hours after death. It’s a purplish red coloring.
Sue was walked around the living room to see the bodies of Dana and Johnny at some point because the bottoms of her feet were coated in blood along with bloody footprints.
It’s believed Sue was killed after this with a last stab would to her left breast that was actually a horizontal cut that went so deep it punctured her lung and even touched her spine.
Now begins the staging.
DMac believes Dana was staged first by being turned over onto his stomach where his head rested on the couch cushion. They then began to hit him in the head with a hammer (there were two hammers, one from the Sharp household and one belonging to Marty) there’s a chance they were also doing this post-mortem in order to hide the marks from the butt of the Daisy 880 pellet gun they beat Sue with. They left behind a pellet as well as the sights from the rifle and that’s how the gun was identified.
Then Johnny was positioned and tied up to Dana with electrical cords
Then they tied up Sue with the electrical cords and put her in sexual position by tightening the cords so tight from her ankles to her wrists.. She was completely nude from the waist down and gagged with a bandana and her own panties. Just freaking horrible
All of the victims had their wrists and ankles taped together with medical tape, but Dana’s tape was broken on his wrists and ankles.
Remember when I mentioned over the timeline about Justin and how all of his stories conflict each other?
He’s 10, okay? But, from what they’ve uncovered, all of the boys were likely threatened in order to keep them quiet, but Justin was actually forced to participate in order to keep him quiet forever.
There is DNA evidence linked to Justin from some of the medical tape used to tie up the victims. His mother, Marilyn, will even later admit to Justin being involved.
That has lead to the belief that the bent steak knife that was found next to Johnny was actually used by Justin to inflict post-mortem wounds to the bodies.
He also claims he’s the one who covered up Sue’s body with the sheet and blanket.
The boys were also all locked in the closet, and their were knife marks all over the living room walls and opposite of the closet.
The killers left between 4:00-4:30am.. With all three boys still alive. If it weren’t for Justin being there, who knows if Ricky and Greg would still be alive.
On April 12th around noon the DOJ had helicopters flying above taking photos. In these photos, they got a man named Dee Lake’s borrowed Green Ford Wagon (he is believed to be involved in the crime) parked outside of Cabin 26 aka Marilyn and Marty’s home and Wade Meeks’s car parked opposite of him. He’s also believed to be involved in the crime. When the next pictures are taken, Wade’s car has disappeared and Dee’s car is seen leaving Keddie and hiding under a tree.
DMac believes they went a weird way Quincy to get the cops off their trail, grabbed Tina’s body, drove another weird way back into Camp Eighteen (where her body will be found) and disposed of her body.
AUTOPSY REPORTS
Sue:
She suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest
Hemothorax -- Blood collecting in the pleural cavity of her chest aka the area between her chest and lungs -- This was caused by a large stab wound to the lower portion of her left breast
Stab wound in her larynx (in the neck) where she aspirated on her own blood (choked) -- This is believed to be one of her first wounds inflicted on her that kept her down enough to gag her and make her watch the murder of Johnny and Dana which is unbelievably horrible
Multiple lacerations to her scalp and face which caused skull fractures and fracture to her right eye
Meningeal hemorrhage, focal contusion of the brain -- Meaning she had a brain bleed and a bruise on her brain
Focal fractures of her upper teeth as well as loosened teeth
Ligatures on her wrists and ankles
Multiple cuts specifically to the top of her left hand
Cause of Death: Multiple injuries with stab wound to aorta and hemothorax. Basically, she bled out into her chest cavity, her aorta was punctured which also leads to her bleeding out.
Johnny:
Stab wound right carotid artery and vein and larynx
Multiple depressed skull fractures with lacerations and contusions of brain and brain swelling
Stab wounds of chest with involvement of soft tissues
Fracture of right eye
Ligatures of wrist and ankles
Cause of Death: Stab wound of right carotid artery, vein, and larynx
Dana:
Multiple skull fractures with facial bone fractures and lacerations and contusions of brain with brain swelling
Hemorrhages, deep soft tissues of neck with facial petechiae and facial swelling—— strangulation
Meningeal hemorrhage, brain
Multiple fractured teeth and loosened teeth
Aspiration of blood, modest
Ligatures of wrists and ankles
Cause of Death: Craniocerebral trauma (head trauma) and strangulation
While this is pretty gruesome, I want to point out how earlier I stated that Dana was found on a bloody couch cushion and each person sustained significant head trauma. It’s believed that because the floors of this cabin were not very insulated that any noises on them would be louder than most floors. Which is why it’s believed that his cushion was used as sort of a silencer.. Meaning they put him on this cushion to muffle the sounds of the hammer.
But sweet Tina, what happened to her? What was her cause of death?
We don’t really know.
On April 22, 1984, three years after the murders, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office received report that a man out collecting bottles at the Feather Falls area had found a skull. However, not enough of the skull was recovered to be able to make an identification.
June 8, 1984 they went back out and did a more extensive search where they recovered a lower jaw.
These remains were sent off to the DOJ Missing Persons Unit and then sent on to Dr. Sperber along with Tina’s x-rays that were on file.
Dr. Sperber is an expert in San Diego for identifying remains
June 19, 1984 the DOJ was notified that the remains were that of Tina Sharp.
Oddly enough, on the 20th of June, Marilyn called the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office to confirm that Tina’s remains had been found, said Marty went to Reno after the murders, Justin had serious mental issues so she made him go live with her other ex-husband/his father in Montana, he can barely talk about that night, and asked if they found any other evidence to identify a suspect... sounds like something we always hear about with people who are guilty, doesn’t it?
Other evidence they found was an empty medical tape dispenser (remember they tied up the other victims with medical tape), a portion of a pair of Levi’s jeans, and a blue nylon coat (which if you remember Sheila said was missing of Tina’s).
They then went door to door canvasing the area, giving out a list of suspects, and showing photos of Tina which all came up inconclusive.
Mark Gamberg was also brought on by Sheriff Hagwood as a private investigator to help continue working on this case since they both knew the Sharps. However, after reading some on DMac’s facebook page, Keddie Cabin 28 Murders Case, Gamberg had been able to submit the case to Vidocq Society which is comprised of retired crime scene experts including FBI agents, forensics, homicide investigators, scientist, coroners, prosecutors, etc.. He was supposed to be able to present this to them, and his hope was to obtain more insight into the case and what directions to take. However, before he could do this, he was let go due to “budget cuts” but is still working on the case on his own and with DMac.
Marilyn and Marty Smartt and Bo Boubede are all dead, but the other’s believed to be involved in the case are still alive. I will list all those alleged to be involved:
Marty Smartt
Marilyn Smartt
Bo Boubede
Dee Jay Lake
Wade and Nina Meeks
Motive for the Meeks: Wade was having an affair with Marilyn. Nina was mad at Sue made Sheila give her baby up for adoption because that was Nina’s grandbaby. So even though it’s claimed they were best friends, apparently she was very upset by this
Justin Smartt
Tony Garedekis
I didn’t mention Tony throughout because there was some big long thing I read about his identity, but I think he catfished Sue. I could be wrong, but I remember reading something about him being someone named Avery, and he’s connected to Dee Lake.
DMac has also uncovered a ton of information how the original investigators were believed to be corrupt, Boubede was protected by police/DOJ due to his connections to the mafia (which is how nobody has gotten in trouble for this), and it’s weird how the DOJ Agents that were sent out had absolutely nothing to do with homicide.. They were organized crime agents that were allegedly linked to the mafia/cocaine trafficking ring. But the FBI had gotten involved when they found out about Tina Sharp missing, but they were allegedly lead in a direction where they were no longer needed and unable to help with the case. He has a whoooole thing on this, but I feel like I will just leave it at this since this is all alleged, but I don’t feel as if it’s untrue given how it was very obvious who killed these people, and it is still “unsolved” to this day, and these people were never given true justice. With all the information that was given and evidence was hidden, it just doesn’t seem right. So I feel like there’s a good chance he’s very much correct in this. I could go into it, but, to be honest, there’s so much information on this case I don’t think I could truly ever get into it all. It’s the type of case you could make an entire podcast on. Like multiple seasons. Will it ever be solved? I don’t know, but I hope someday all this work he and Gamberg have put into it will pay off, and Sue, Johnny, Dana, and Tina will get justice.
There is another forum (the zodiac killer hoax) that I will list in my resources that also has a ton of information on the Keddie Cabin that I used some of. This person and DMac do not like each other and have very differing opinions on who committed the crimes. He believes the kids were involved and things went awry which while some of his stuff could have proof behind it, it just doesn’t make sense. But, that is MY opinion, and I encourage you all to do your own research if you want and form your own opinions as there are a lot in this case. The one thing I’ve discovered while doing this is facts can be hard to come by. And feel free to message me on instagram @deusodishescrime and share your thoughts with me!
